Lifelong Learning Centre
The aim of the Lifelong
Learning Centre is to offer education and training in a community setting,
providing an opportunity to update work skills, improve employment prospects
and build confidence. Courses range from IT, HNC Community Development,
Cookery, Basic Food Hygiene, Country Crafts, English and Maths to Woodwork,
Art and Counselling. Free childcare is available in our on-site registered
crèche for those attending courses or training provided by the Lifelong
Learning Centre.
Over the past year there have been 44 weekly courses running at the centre
together with a variety of short term courses and training events such as
Communication Skills, First Aid and Health and Safety.
There have been some excellent results from 110 IT exams taken, ranging from
Text/Word processing levels 1, 2 and 3 to Business Presentation and Document
Presentation, of these there were 83 passes with more than two thirds
gaining a distinction. Alongside the achievements of the IT students many
other students have developed in confidence and attained passes in courses
such as GCSE English and Maths, OCN Woodwork and Personal Development
Skills.
