Caia Park Partnership (CPP) has a principle aim of becoming more sustainable and less dependent on short term grant funding. CPP sees the development of social enterprise as an essential element in achieving this.
In 2007 the Trustees of Caia Park Partnership decided to prioritise the development of social enterprises. They agreed that for CPP the purpose of social enterprise development is to:
Maintain existing services where grant funding is coming to an end
Provide additional funding to supplement largely grant funded projects either to develop the project or provide match funding
Establish new services on a sustainable basis
Create unrestricted income for CPP
With this in mind, in April 2007, they approved a new staff position; Social Enterprise Development Worker (SEDW). Since then Lorraine Daly, the SEDW, has established or developed six social enterprises. All of these enterprises met an identified need and resulted in the continuation of services and the securing of paid and voluntary position.
Caia Park Partnership currently runs six social enterprises: Advance Training and Consultancy, Best Buffets, Caia Crafts, Sparkles Day Nursery and Meals on Wheels.
Lorraine is currently working on our latest enterprise; a textile recycling project called Just for Kids. This enterprise will be launching shortly and will collect and recycle clothes and textiles. Donation will be sorted with babies and children's clothes being sold on through our town centre shop. Adult clothes and textiles will be recycled.
We get many requests for visits & support. We therefore may ask for small financial contribution to cover time take.
